Chicago and Devil and the White City 

With About Tours see the haunts of serial killer H.H. Holmes who stalked his prey at the 1893 Chicago World’s Columbian Exposition.

Day 1

During a driving tour of the sites of the fair, you will see the great golden Statue of the Republic, the Palace of Fine Arts, and learn about the construction of the fair and the deadly deeds of Holmes, featured in the book, Devil in the White City by Erik Larsen.  You will also stop at the Chicago Cultural Center and City Hall to see historic photographs taken at the fair and Chicago landmark buildings designed by the fair architects.  You will see other sites related to the fair and learn quirky facts and tidbits about Holmes and the fair that gave Chicago its nickname The Windy City. You will stop at Navy Pier, with its Ferris Wheel and now an entertainment and shopping complex and visit the Field Museum designed by Daniel Burnham architect of the fair.  Travel in the world’s fastest elevators to the Sears Skydeck or Hancock Observatory and enjoy dinner in a well-known Chicago restaurant.

Day 2

Discover how hand signals are used to make deals in the Board of Trade and drive around historic Wrigley Field and find out why the Cubs always lose.  Visit a beautiful indoor garden and drive through the Gold Coast where many of Chicago’s rich and famous have their homes.  See where Oprah lives and tapes her show at Harpo Studios.  You will visit the Museum of Science & Industry with Colleen Moore’s Fairy Castle, or the Shedd Aquarium and a Marine Mammal Show or the Art Institute of Chicago to see the famous miniature Thorne Rooms and La Grande Jatte.  Finish the day with dinner and a show.

Day 3

See the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright during a driving tour of Oak Park and have an exclusive tour of his Home and Studio.  Tour Frank Lloyd Wright’s Unity Temple or the Ernest Hemingway Museum. Enjoy a tour of Chicago’s famous Cheesecake Factory.  Visit a spectacular church and discover the Ethnic Neighborhoods of Chicago and enjoy an ethnic dine-around with appetizers in Chinatown, an entrée in Greektown and dessert in Little Italy.
