About Tours original owners Jenifer Robertson and Courtney Ashley are veteran certified Chicago tour guides and Windy City experts. Since 1994, the company has specialized in themed day tours of the Chicago area. Today, in addition to Chicago day and multi-day tours, About Tours has expanded to offer tours throughout the United States and around the world.
Jenifer was born in South Africa, where she was an elementary school teacher before moving to England and then the United States. Courtney grew up in the Chicago area and worked in banking before getting into tourism. They are neighbors in Glen Ellyn, a village close to Chicago. They spent many years volunteering at their children’s schools and other community organizations before starting in the tour business.
Both are long-time volunteers with the Art Institute of Chicago, where they have enjoyed a lengthy commitment to the Art Insights program, which offers lectures about the Art Institute and its collections to senior citizens in their local communities. Because of Courtney and Jenifer’s interest in art, they work successfully with many groups requiring art as the tour focus, but both love finding all kinds of authentic experiences for their tours.
Courtney, Jenifer and their office staff Anne and Eleanor carefully plan and coordinate each tour. Our certified tour guides and tour escorts make each tour memorable. About Tours specializes in itineraries that showcase Chicago and its great neighborhoods and each year offers several national and international destinations for individual travelers. It is our goal to customize tours especially for groups according to their destination, interests and budget.
